VERRERIE
DE BIOT |
 |
|
|
It
was in the hearth of costal Provence, in one of the
villages whose pictuesque
tell so good the charme of this sun-kissed region, that
Eloi Monod created, in 1956,
what would turn out to be a world renowned feature
of this village the glasswrks.
The last glasswork of the Provence region, in La
Bocca, close down in 1899.
Sixty years later Monod, son-in-law of potter Augé
Laribé and ceramic engineer who
received his diploma from "L'école de Sèvres",
reopened the doors into a craft that
was hitherto considered to be lost and turned into one
of the principle attractions of the region.
Since its creation the Biot glassworks has always
been open to the public.
There everyone is invited to come and discover the delights
created by the glassmakers,
who work in a team, using methods discovered by Monod
during his travel to Spain and Italy.
It was in fact to Venice, Majorca and Barcelona where
the famous crafstman went to find
the haunts of the most well known glass-makers and bought
home from there each secret and technique,
creating from them blown glass.
So come and discover the delicacies of this art, which
as made Biot the glass capital of the world
for over half centuary, in the Eco musuem. Duringyour
visit you will discover everything about this splendid
and magical collection, which is transformed from sand
into artistic creation.
The best of glass workers will help you to discover
every facet of a craft valued throughout the world.
The public are welcome in many studios, where the works
of craftsmen are displayed.
Numerous members of the Cote d'Azurien, and also Parisien,
jet-set have already passed a great deal of time there.

GALIMARD
|
 |
|
|
The
Glaimard parfumery was created in 1747 by the
Lord of Séranon,
a good friend of F.Goethe and Jeande Galimard.
During this era he founded a corporation of perfumiers
and glove markers. He was responsible for feeding the
court of King Louis "the loved one"
with olive oil, bouquets of wine and ointments, delicacies
of which he was the first owner of recipies.
Centuaries on, the Galimard parfumery is the
oldest and most well-known
institution of this craft, it perpetuates, remaining
loyal to the traditions of its founder, the procedures/
processes which have earned its products their name.
During a guided and detailed tour of the perfumery's
laboratories and processing rooms
each of the master perfumers will help you discover
their secrets, by demonstrating to you their techniques.
In the course of an informative commentary you will
discover how these jewels are produced,
the methods of extraction of the substances from which
they are made, the process of their transformation,
as well as having the chance to meet the compositors
of the perfumes, known in the trade as nose.

 |
|
|
The
parfums of Molimard have reigned and perpatued
the French and family tradition of this art since 1849.
Its kingdom is at he heart of the perfume capital of
the world, a stoty-book place where the most prized
ingredients, such as jasmin and rose centifolia,
are found.
A perfume is more complicated than one could ever imagine,
it's a real work of art, the making of which usually
requires a lot of patience.
For example, the latset creation produced by the Molimard

than two years of reseach and of meticulous testing
to archeive harmony between the 300 different components
which constitute it.
The parfumier has to find a harmony which will enchant
its users by weaving and marrying different scents on
a palette containing between 5000 and 6000 essences,
each one unique.
Perfumery is an art which the "Noze" has to
master and all of the aspect of which examined by the
perfumer to ensure their quality : fragrance, tenacity,
reaction on contact with the skin, degree of volitality.
At Molimard you can discover the all different
tages of the perfum's developement ona completely free
guided tour of the factories and laboratories. You will
be presented with an enormous collection of labels,
as bottles, as old as they are prestigeous, signed by
master glass makers such as "Baccarat"
and "René Lalique".

who wish to create their own perfume, under the expert
guidance of the "noze" you will be allowed

DOMAINE
DES GROTTES DES AUDIDES
|
 |
|
|
