INTERNATIONAL OF SCENTS AND PERFUMES
All the charms of the gentle life in Provence are flaunted in this
medieval town.
Situated less the 20 kilometres from Cannes, Grasse is an ideal,
even enchanting resort with a delicate climate.
A unique and Medieval site, the town is classed by the "Caisse
National des Monuments Historiques" as a city of art. Allow
yourself to be carried away by the heady scents of the many markets
and surprised by Provincial and Genoese styles.
The memory of this exquisite town will be imprinted forever in
the hearts and minds of all who visit it: from its Cathedral Notre
Dame du Puy to its historical buildings whose bossage has been surprisingly
well conserved (it dates from the 13th - 18 th centuries), by passing
through the gardens, roads and terraces bathed in colour, bright
glowing colour, embodied in its many scents. Grasse is, however
first and foremost the perfume capital of the world.
The long tradition of perfumery has existed for more than a century
in this mystical place and it is here that many big names, such
as Chanel n° 5 were originally and still are produced.
A visit to the "Musée International de la Parfumerie"
will allow you to discover the history of this extraordinary art.
The "Musée d'Art d'Histoire de la Provence" has
to offer an exceptional collection of high quality earthenware and
Provencel furniture.
The "Musée Jean Honoré Fragonard" (XVIII
centuary) proposes an exhibition of roses in its salons, as well
as a colourful display of paintings and out-of-the-ordinary sculptures.
Finally, "The Musée Mémorial Amiral de Grasse"
retraces the life of this celebrated "Grassois" through
a pictorial exhibition, sketches and various personal artefacts.
