You only need travel ½ hour from Cannes to discover and appreciate
the tranquillity of this picturesque village, situated very high up.
Halfway between Grasse and Vence, built upon a rocky outcrop, it tower
s from a height of 350 meters over half of the Loup Valley.
From this vantage point you can benefit from an unforgettable view
of the lush vegetation of this region.
The "Town of Orange Trees" as we like to call this village
will astound you with its richness and treasures.
Its gorges and its valley, its authenticity, its panoramic view over
Gourdon and its surroundings, its pedestrians roads; its church and
its castle, everything here is well work the journey and deserves
the attention f a more in-depth visit.
A monument to Gothic style as well as asymmetrical (2 naves instead
of 3), the church whose construction dates from (9th - 13th) is one
of the key works of provincial architecture.
Behind the master alter you can admire a "retable" of "L'Ecole
des Bréa" (XV), as well as , at the bottom, beneath the
tribune, the oldest painting of the region, dating from 15th, called
"La Danse Macabre".
As regards the castle, whose foundations date back to 13th represents,
with its ramparts and keep, an active witness of the many hordes;
Celtic, Gaul, League, Roman or Saracen who invaded Provence.
Bar-Sur-Loup is also a melting pot of art, its many craftsmen doing
justice to their talent, offering as a feast for the eyes the fruits
of their labour.
There is also a factory producing perfumes and aromatics products,
whose earthy scents will tantalise your taste buds and stimulate your
senses.
