  Mandelieu La-Napoule

Situated less than ten minutes from Cannes, between the sun-kissed mountains of the Esterel and the wood expanses of Tanneron, the town of Mandelieu will enchant you will the scent of pines and mimosas. It is the number one golfing resort of the Cote d'Azur and possesses two courses in France; the "Old Course" one of the oldest golf courses in France and the "Riviera Golf". The former constitutes 18 holes over a distance of (5676 by 71) and a further 9 holes over a distance of (2118 by 33) separated by a river at hole number 3. The latter has 18 holes over a greater distance (5066 by 71), over a wooded course, in the middle of the mimosas of Esterel, hidden there one will encounter many interesting challenges.
Those adept at sport are by no means neglected; activities such as sailing, windsurfing, rowing, water-skiing, diving, fishing and parascending are all offered.
Mandelieu is also an large area of nature which has been preserved and protected from pollution.

By moped, on foot or on horseback you can discover the incomparable pleasures of trekking through countryside full of life, where flora and fauna live in perfect harmony.
No less then five sites will quest your thirst for discovery and for clean fresh air.

Le Tanneron:
A continuation of Esterel, although closer in structure to the Maures, the mountain, renowned for its crops of mimosa, is worth visiting at any time of year.
However it is during January and February that you will benefit most from seeing the forests in full flower, glowing with the yellow luminescence of mimosa.

La Forêt du Grand Duc:
A viewpoint which dominates the Côte d'Azur, this communal forest, managed by the ONF blankets the slopes of the Tanneron. On the long stretches of well maintained pistes you will find all type of flora, which make up a stunning panorama all along the coast line.

L'Esterel:
Incontestably the jewel of the Côte d'Azur, the immense forest covered mountain hides the treasures of nature which has been preserved. Its exceptional pistes appeal to the hiker, in the heart of the forest themed hikes are offered according to the season. For example: the bellow of the stag, mushroom picking, cork production, forest management and the birds of Esterel.

Domaine de Barbossi:
One of the last remaining sites where "Vin du pays" is still produced. Domaine de Barbossi has something for all the family. It is situated between the Esterel and the Tanneron and the locals professionals offer their services and provide leisure activities: tennis courts, pony club, children's playground, mini zoo, trails which can be follow on foot or on horse back…

Le San Peyre:
The sacred mountain of Napoule, whose summit reaches 131 metres, is accessible by path designed for that purpose. This sentinel, which just out from Esterel over the sea and surrounding countryside, is a veritable departmental forestry park. For those adventurous enough to climb it, it offers an incomparable view of the coast, as well as…

On top of all that, Mandelieu offers to arty types of all kinds a splendid palette of high quality cultural events, such as concerts, theatre and exhibitions.
The Château de la Napoule, in the midst of pines and mimosas, is the main attraction here. It is constructed in the medieval style and architectural splendour will leave you lost for words. Many international cultural exchanges take place in this large magisterial building, decorated in region style. In 1951 Marie Clews founded the association of art in order to protect the works of her husband, the sculptor Henry Clews. Since 1987 the castle has welcomed artists who come to stay there, seeking the calm and reflexion needed for their work.
The castle itself rest upon Roman and Saracen ruins and was the baronial home of the Counts of Villeneuve until the revolution. It was only in 1918 that the ruined fortress was bought by the Clews, who reconstructed the shell of the building according to their very personal interpretation of the architecture of the Middle Ages. The high ramparts shelter gardens designed in French styles by Marie Clews, which blend harmoniously the styles of Classicism and Romanticism.
All of Henry Clew's works are to be found in this one place, giving another charming facet to this…region.
